Coming Forward in our Lives

“We must first come forward in our lives and our physicality in order to find our balance.”

I was reminded while teaching today of the importance of bringing our students forward so they might “stand” a fighting chance of accessing balance. A student in class today became aware of a limited feeling or sensation of her toes. After class, she realized how much she had not been aware that she was not feeling her toes.

It is an interesting observation and insight after accessing the energy of the spine through the introduction of EBAS and the first experience with Awakening the Spine. It was interesting because when she entered class I could see how far back she carried the weight of her torso as well as how her shoulders had to round forward in order to counteract the incongruent placement of the body. It is no wonder that the body must compensate for compensations in order to manufacture a sense of vertical or standing.

If this is the case, as was her and with many people, the body is in conflict with the rising energy of the centerline limiting ones ability for effective and integrated alignment. This in-congruency creates a block in flow and in circulation of fluid and energy. When there is a blockage present then there will be a lack of ones ability to feel oneself appropriately. If we can to feel or sense our distal physical being, then we may not be able to feel ourselves appropriately in space and comprehend our limitations or our ability to overcome them. If we cannot feel the ends of our being, then how is it going to be possible for us to extend our energies out into space? This is quite the conundrum for physical performers, no?

Finally, I asked the student if she had trouble with her balance and proprioception and here response was as I expected. Yes! You see, if we cannot feel our toes then we are unable to feel our balance. Ur toes help us to balance and help us to manage ourselves in space. Wee must have a great relationship with our entire foot and our toes are very much a big part of healthy foot. It also serves as a reminder to us as beautiful moving beings; if we cannot sense the ends of our being we then are in discord and have a disconnect or blockage of our energy and the ability to consciously sense our lives.

The Road Leads The Eye

Follow your eyes for they say the eyes are the windows of the soul. If this is true we should follow our eyes along the path that we are taking for where our eyes go, so shall we. My eyes go up.

Buried deep within is the history of each soul. Mindfully peeled back, one can see the origins of their heart.

This morning started with a wet walk meandering the majestic streets of Rome as I enjoyed my walking meditation morning ending at the Pantheon absorbing the Pagan energies of the old ways.

As I sit here quietly awaiting my first leg of my European Adventure 2013, I am reminded why I love this thing called travel and that there truly is an art to it if you allow the experience of traveling carry you.

Right now I have been sitting here in silence carving out words as I have written in several notebooks. During this time I have “settled” into the space of simplicity and peace. Calm, I wait and am grateful for the forced space rather than choosing to focus on the fear of not knowing or being consumed by others manufactured stress.

I realize I love the space that travel affords me to simplify, quiet my thoughts, and observe everything anew again. Truly it is not often that our lives allow us to sit for hours on end during our current 24/7 365 lives.

So I say embrace the time our journey has given us. Soak in the solitude and let peace wash over you regardless of what “reality” is throwing us. I guarantee we will all get to where we are going or need to be. After all, we have no wings ourselves nor control of weather, machines, or others.

I am choosing to allow. I am choosing to let this journey bring what I need and to be grateful for whatever that may be. I choose to be congruent with the way and let the energy of that void carry me safely and beautifully throughout this experience.

Ironically, shortly after my most recent post, Adventure in Traveling, I now sit awaiting a departure for Rome. As I sit here we are 50 minutes behind schedule for electrical reasons in the cabin. And still, I sit quietly. Quietly reading and taking in this time that the luxury of patience affords.

One detail I would like to share is that in this stillness u began to read a most wonderful book that seems to be reaching out and cupping my heart. Would we be in the air I would not be sharing with you my joy and or have read deeply into its spine.

The book in my lap is “Finding Inner Courage” by Mark Nepo. So far the book seems to be touching the very soul of what I need to be reading at this juncture in my life and is reinforcing all that I am learning and absorbing on my research leave this far. If you get a chance, check it out. Especially if your feeling the need for a good heartfelt and compassionate read.

Anyway, this little bit of stolen time, correction, given time is truly something to be grateful for. Thank you again journey for opening time, the heart, and a voice to reinforce my thoughts.
